HTML5 video formats

Video formats have always been an issue in internet fields.
Until this last years there wasn’t a standard protocol to show videos/movies in a browser – most of the times we had to install plugins –
something not browser built-in – a 3rd party -. With the new HTML(5), we have now a new elements that specifies a standard way of embeb a video in our pages.
The built-in HTML5 element <video> offers a clean way to easily embed video files in our html documents.

There are 3 video formats for it – MP4, Ogg and WebM

MP4 = MPEG 4 files with H264 video codec and AAC audio codec
WebM = WebM files with VP8 video codec and Vorbis audio codec
Ogg = Ogg files with Theora video codec and Vorbis audio codec

Our sweet CMS will convert to both formats to have a better support on the diferents browsers around, but regard that MP4 format is supported by Chrome and Safari (Apple browser each include iPhones, iPads, etc) and by H.264 Streaming.
